Vijay is a famous Indian actor, playback singer, and philanthropist who works in the Tamil film industry. His full name is Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar but he is famously known as Vijay. He was born on 22 June 1974 in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu. His father, S.A. Chandrasekhar is a popular Tamil director and his mother, Shoba Chandrasekhar is a Carnatic vocalist and playback singer.
He’s born in the family where all members are related to the film industry. His cousin, Vikrant who is also famous Tamil film actor. His dialog delivery to superb dance moves, comics timing to action packed roles and his versatility made him one of the famous actors in the Tamil industry.
1. Worked as Child Artist
Being the son of Tamil film director, he never far away from the limelight. He made his acting debut at the age of eighteen in his father directed movie Naalaiya Theerpu (1992). After that, he got chances to prove himself and he stands on it.
He also appeared alongside Vijaykanth in Sendhoorapandi (1993) and in 1994, he became a successful venture after appearing in film Rasigan. He also played a lead role in movies like Deva, Rajavin Parvaiyille where he co-stars with another actor Ajith Kumar, who played a supporting role.
2. Home Production Company -Tribute To His Sister
His sister, Vidhya played a very important role in his life. She died when her age was two and her death affected Vijay very much. Vijay continues to remember her and his production house stands for his siblings-Vidhya and Vijay, by showing never ending love among them.
Her story was depicted in the 2005 film Sukran, where Vijay played an extended cameo. He used to be very talkative, naughty and hyperactive as a child but after her death, he became the silent person who doesn’t talk to others. In the name of Vidhya, he is currently engaged in social service.
3. Introduced Many New Directors
Over the years, he identified his talent and worked with almost more than 20 directors. In 1996, Tamil cinema got a blockbuster movie Poove Unakkaga Vikram-directed film who helped him to establish as a bankable star in Tamil cinema. In 2007, he agreed to work in Pokkiri which was directed by Prabhu Deva and in 2008, he starred in the action movie Kuruvi, under the direction of Dharani.
Again in 2009, he began with the action movie Villu masala, which was directed by Prabhu Deva and Vijay had the dual role for the second time in his career. His next movie, Vettaikaaran was directed by Babu Sivan, produced by AVM production and distributed by Sun Pictures.
4. A Philanthropist Encore
Vijay is known for his great services to the society. He offers books and stationery to the poor kids of the society. He started a social welfare organization which was officially launched at Pudukottai on 26 July 2009 named Vijay Makkal Iyakkam which is responsible for much of his philanthropist work.
His organization administrators also arranged relief camp at Kammiyampettai, Cuddalore where the star provided rice to the affected people after Cyclone Thane. Cuddalore was the worst affected area in floods and Vijay reached to help these people and can recover from the disaster. He also appeared along with Jyothika, Suriya and R. 5. Dream House- A Hollywood Inspiration
He has a beautiful beach house in Neelangarai. He got that idea to cropped up his mind when he saw actor Tom Cruise’s beach house on a trip to the USA. Tom’s house affected his mind so much that he fell in love with the design of the house, took pictures of it and then got a similar one constructed for himself in India.
