Shorten your domain name with abbreviations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Heard of the website \u201cWPBeginner\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>That\u2019s an example of a blog that uses abbreviations in their domain name.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use abbreviations to shorten and simplify your domain name, especially if it has pretty long words.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key here is to only abbreviate words that your target audience will surely understand. Otherwise, you may alienate the casual observers in your niche who have the potential to become customers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWP,\u201d for instance, is widely understood as \u201cWordPress\u201d in the blogging industry. Play with TLDs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We already talked about TLDs a couple of times in this post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>So far, we\u2019ve established two things.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Number one, TLDs have no effect whatsoever on SEO.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And number two, you can use alternative TLDs if the \u201c.com\u201d variant of the domain you want is already registered.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite all that, you can\u2019t deny the fact that most people associate the \u201c.com\u201d TLD with authority.
